The big fatness of Indian weddings goes without saying! Especially when a celebrity gets married, extravagant is an understatement. From the mehndi to the haldi to the wedlock ceremony, everything is glamorous making the event reserve headlines in dailies and prime slots on television. The same happened when Indian Cricketer Abhimanyu Mithun and his long-term girlfriend Rayane Raadhika Sarathkumar organized their sangeet ceremony in August 2016. Their event, arranged by The A-Cube Project was definitely one of a kind! The theme of the sangeet was ‘Fully Local’ and the quirky décor pieces as a part of the ambiance did complete justice.
Abhimanyu Mithun belongs to Bangalore and has made a mark for himself in the field of cricket whereas Rayane is the daughter of Radikaa Sarathkumar, a renowned actor and producer of Tamil films and Ramanathan Sarathkumar, a famous actor, journalist and politician who assists her mother with her production house in Chennai. No wonder the event was witnessed by some of the biggest names of the South Indian industry and other celebrities including Muthai Muralidharan, Dwayne Bravo, Trisha, Dhanush & Aishwarya Dhanush, Rana Daggubatti, Lata Rajnikanth, Suhasini Maniratnam, Suriya & Jyothika, Anirudh Ravichander, Khusboo, Prasanna & Sneha, Shobana Chandrakumar , Lakshmi Manchu, to mention a few!
Until now, the couple had not given their fans a glimpse of their private event but these pictures by The A-Cube Project exhibit how glitzy and glamorous the evening was! According to sources, the couple wanted to infuse as much color as possible and reflect their background and profession with the theme making their sangeet a memorable affair. For the same, they chose the expertise of The A-Cube Project, one of the best wedding planners in Chennai.
Ambika, the proprietor of ‘The A-Cube Project’ says ‘ we worked with the celebrity duo for weeks, understanding their likes, dislikes, color preferences etc. and I feel hard work paid off when we saw the fully local panoramic shot of the sangeet ceremony.’
There was a local auto painted by the city street artists and decked up with genda phool to add that desi touch!
What we simply loved was the DJ’s thela console created by The A-Cube Project. Not only was this idea highly innovative but also very fresh and original.
The colorful hanging décor also had a local story! Sourced from street vendors of Delhi and Chennai, their bright hues added a charm to the entire setup.
An inspiration for us and we’re guessing for all brides and grooms-to-be was the shot station, selfie booth and ofcourse the Chennai popular Tasmac Bar. So out of the box, we must say!
Other elements including the table centerpieces shaped like a wicket, eccentric photo frames with the couple’s pictures, pom poms and diyas and the show stopper genda elephant were difficult to go unnoticed.
The presence of high-profile individuals was perfectly complemented by this unconventional décor and we feel that if there is any way to organize a sangeet ceremony right, it is the way Abhimanyu, Rayane and The A-Cube Project did!
