Amit Velagapudi, an Indian doctor who moved to Ireland at the age of 12 met Aoife Hanna, dietician and founder of EatRight Ireland, while working in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in 2011.
After dating for four years, the couple decided to take a trip together to New Zealand. During this vacation, Amit proposed to Aoife on top of Mount Victoria and this we feel is the most adorable part of their love story.
Once they were back, the two decided to tie the knot and to celebrate this happy moment, 15 of Amit’s relatives flew to Ireland to attend a barbecue feast hosted by Aoife’s parents Mary and Gerry Hanna.
Since the two belonged to very different backgrounds and cultures, to bridge the gap they decide to head to India for a wedding totally desi style! Guess what, Amit even arranged a flash mob of Indian dancers on a popular Telugu song to surprise his lady love!
The duo came to India with Aoife’s 30 relatives and Amit’s family had arranged for three events including mehendi, shaadi and reception. The bride and her family members got henna tattoos and dressed up in ethnic Indian ensembles.

The wedding was one extravagant affair and the couple expressed their heartfelt feelings towards their parents and siblings for their undisputed support.
We wish Amit and Aoife a happy married life.
