Indian Cricket captain Virat Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma hogged the limelight at The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) annual award function held last night on June 12 in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli was felicitated with the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award (Best International Cricketer) for his stellar performances in the two consecutive seasons of 2016-17 and 2017-18. He received the award from present India coach Ravi Shastri.
Amidst the cheering audience was his wife Anushka Sharma who had her own proud moment when Virat Kohli acknowledged her presence in his heart-warming speech on stage “My wife's here today so makes it more special. The awards didn't happen last year but I'm glad they didn't because she's here now and we could attend it together."
Here are a few glimpses of the event –
This is not the first time Virat Kohli made Anushka Sharma feel special and made her a part of his achievements. Remember, when Virat Kohli blew a kiss to Anushka Sharma after scoring a century in a match in Australia years before they got married.
The happy couple was seen later in the night walking hand in hand at the Mumbai airport, returning from Bengaluru after attending the awards function.
Virat Kohli is presently undergoing rehabilitation for a neck injury sustained during the recently concluded IPL matches and will be missing from the upcoming one-off Test match against Afghanistan.
