But taking care of your skin does not mean splurging on luxury skin care products. So many edible items you generally throw away thinking they are simply no good can prove to be magic products for your facial skin. These items can be easily found either on your kitchen shelf or your refrigerator. All you need to know is the right way to apply them! Read on to know which food items should go on your face rather than going straight into the garbage bin.

 

1. Orange Peel

Orange peel is a powerhouse of antioxidants and there is no reason why you should throw it away once you’ve eaten the orange or extracted its juice.

How To Use

Put the orange peels to dry for atleast 3 days under the sun. Once dry, put it in the mixer grinder to make a fine powder. You can also store this powder in a container for later use. Mix this powder with some honey and a pinch of turmeric to make a fine paste. Apply this paste on your skin and neck and let it stay for 5-10 minutes.  Wash it off with water and repeat this process daily to make your skin tone much lighter.

 

2. Used Green Tea Bags

Puffy eyes? Well, used green tea bags can reduce dark circles and puffiness considerably.

How To Use

Just refrigerate used green tea bags for 4-5 hours and let them rest on your eyes for 15-20 minutes. Repeat this process thrice in a week and say hello to fresh eyes!

 

3. Spoilt Yogurt

Yogurt tends to lose its freshness to become sour and this is when we think of spilling in with waste.

How to Use

This yogurt if mixed with honey and lemon and cure tanned skin. You could also mix this yogurt with lemon and keep it for 20 minutes to remove dead skin cells. Not only this, yogurt works wonders to make your hair soft and hence, should not be thrown away without using it to the fullest.

 

4. Potato Peel

Pigmentation on the skin does not look appealing and requires a lot of concealing with makeup. Potato peel is a natural bleaching agent and if used regularly, can help eliminate any pigmentation to make your face look even toned.

How to Use

Simply rub potato peel on your face for 10-12 minutes. Repeat this process every day regularly for seven days. Rubbing potato peel will also remove excessive oil from your face making your skin look healthy.

 

5. Ripe Banana

Ripe Banana cannot be eaten but it is packed with a pool of nutrients that are amazing for your facial skin.

How to Use

Mash a ripe banana to make a thick paste. Add a teaspoon of honey and the juice of half a lemon to this paste and let it sit 20 minutes. Rinse off with a mild cleanser and flaunt a healthy looking skin.
